How to Enrol
Enrolment of pupils turning five
The Principal likes to welcome all new parents and children to our school.
You should enrol your child well before their fifth birthday. This allows you and your child to meet with the Principal to discuss any special needs your child may have, to answer any questions you and your child may have, and to allow time to place your child in the most appropriate class.
This time also allows the teacher and class to prepare a special welcome for your child.
Please Note:
Birth certificate - Ministry of Education regulations require us to take a copy of each child’s original birth certificate at the time of enrolment so please ensure you bring this with you. If the child does not have a NZ birth certificate then the child’s passport is acceptable.
Immunisation certificate - we also need to view the immunisation certificate which you get from your doctor.
Parent’s ethnicity - if one or more of the child’s parents was born outside NZ then we need details of this too - so please bring the passport to enable us to take a copy. This is for funding purposes.
Enrolment of pupils from another school
Pupils who are enrolling from other schools go through a similar process.
To allow us time to ensure your child has a smooth start at their new schools they will not start the day you first arrive to enroll them. This is purely an enrolment day. Usually it is the day pupils and parents meet with the Principal and complete the necessary documentation.
At this time the Principal will decide which is the most suitable day to commence school. We feel this process gives the teacher time to find a buddy for the new pupil and to be able to make the pupil really welcome to the new class. We also believe this is less nerve-wracking for the pupil joining our school.
Pupils from other schools also need to produce their original birth certificate or passport showing residency status (if applicable).
Pre-Schoolers' visits to the Classroom
We like all pre-schoolers to have two visits to their prospective classroom. These visits are for both the parent and the pre-schooler concerned. It is beneficial for the parent to see what happens in the classroom and gives the pre-schooler some idea of what the new surroundings will be like. Visits are organised on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; one 9.00 - 11.00 am and one 11.25 am- 1.00 pm. These get booked at the office.
Please note: Parents must stay with their pre-schooler for the duration of the visit.
